Pure Banarasi Handloom Kora Silk Sarees with Kadwa weave are a exquisite and highly sought-after combination in the world of Indian textiles
Kora silk, often referred to as Banarasi Organza, is a light, sheer fabric made from silk yarns that have not been degummed. This process leaves the silk fibers slightly crisp and gives the fabric a unique weightless, fluffy, and transparent quality.
It’s known for its delicate translucence, lustrous sheen, and soft feel. It’s a popular choice for its elegant drape and comfortable, airy nature
The sheer quality allows motifs to stand out beautifully, and its natural sheen adds a touch of glamour.
Kadwa (also spelled Kadhwa or Kadhuan) is a highly intricate and labor-intensive handloom weaving technique used in Banarasi sarees. The term “Kadwa” translates to “hard” or “difficult” in Hindi, reflecting the meticulous nature of the craft.
Unlike other brocade techniques where extra threads might float at the back of the fabric, in Kadwa weaving, each motif is woven separately and individually by hand. This means that each pattern is cut off at the back, resulting in a cleaner finish with no loose threads.
This technique allows for highly detailed, rich, and dense designs, often featuring elaborate floral, traditional, and geometric patterns. It requires immense skill and can take weeks or even months to complete a single saree.
The motifs appear as if they are embossed on the fabric, giving a distinct texture and depth to the saree.
